Explorations 2026

Poo Bag

Close the door and take a seat, we are investigating possibly the most embodied practice performed by all; doing a poo.

Poo Bag is a playful experiment that unpacks bathroom politics, taking the piss out of normative codes of excretion. Satisfying embodiment is combined with a nuanced world of toilet humour and physical comedy; it’s a shit show in the best way possible. Poo Bag celebrates the dirty taboo and stinky potential of this alien substance, with character forms taking inspiration from our beloved pet dogs.

It’s poopy and absurd, guaranteed to leave you laughing your pants off.

on Serious Business, choreographed and performed by Carlie Shaw and Charlie MacArthur, MudFest 2026.

enthusiasm radiated from this piece and laughs emerged from the audience, serving as a reminder that sometimes we do need a break from the seriousness of the world and that this break can come from something as “silly” as pulling one’s pants down on stage.
The Dialog

Poo Bag contains themes of bodily functions that some viewers may find disturbing. This includes digestive and defecation sounds, as well as props that replicate faeces. Some costumes give the illusion of partial nudity. Poo Bag also contains themes exploring gender, queerness, and body boundaries. This performance contains mild coarse language.
