Where do we draw the line between dependence and independence? (Can we even draw the line?!)

When we thrive to be independent, what does safety net mean to us?
Using movement like w_aacking and contact improvisation, they tell a story about two people finding the balance in their relationship. When they depend on each other, what would happen when one decides to leave?
