Explorations 2026: Eleven Eleven Theatre

The Master and his Dogs

A STORM IS BREWING.

A man, detained by the downpour in his country house, first of all killed his sheep, and then his goats, for the maintenance of the household.

IT IS SWEEPING YOU OFF YOUR FEET.

An empty house. Whispering furniture. Memories run through you. House hunting. Dog hunting.

The storm still continuing, he was obliged to slaughter his yoke oxen for food.

Landlords don’t respect you. Black mould always brings sickness. Working till you’re blood-eyed. Coughing.

IT IS DRENCHING YOU.

On seeing this, his Dogs took counsel together, and said, “It is time for us to be off, for if the master spares not the oxen who work for his gain, how can we expect him to spare us?”

It is rotting walls. Peeling back furniture. Exposing the foundations. Exposing the grief. Exposing the love.

YOU ARE STUCK IN THE EYE OF THE STORM AND YOU ARE STUCK WITH YOUR MASTER.
