More stories behind it...

Ian McCausland, 1969

La Mama Company

The stories behind it:

Ian McCausland (1944–2022) was most famous, not for his theatre work, but as a vibrant force in Australia’s rock ’n’ roll art scene. From Go-Set to Mushroom Records, he created iconic posters and album covers for Skyhooks, Daddy Cool, and The Rolling Stones Australian tour. His designs pulsed with colour and a sense of rebellion, capturing the spirit of his time.

Trina Parker, 1978

How Are You Feeling

The stories behind it:

Trina Parker (1947–2005) was a dynamic theatre maker and designer whose bold imagination shaped Melbourne’s performance landscape. She created striking works for La Mama, Children’s Arena Theatre, the Last Laugh, and Playbox Theatre. Renowned for her artistry and cultural leadership, she became Head of Design at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1991, inspiring generations of theatre artists.

Bruce Spence & Beth Parnaby, 1971

The Removalists

The stories behind it:

Created by printmaker Beth Parnaby (born 1946) and actor Bruce Spence (born 1945), The Removalists print embodies the collision of performance and visual art. Spence, a New Zealand-born Australian actor whose five-decade career spans stage, film, and television - including Mad Max 2, The Matrix Revolutions, and The Lord of the Rings - brought his theatrical energy to the project. Parnaby, an acclaimed printmaker with works now in the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria, drew on her creativity and technical skill as a print maker. Their collaboration captured the dynamic interplay between inner-vision, text and lived experience.

Ian McCausland, 1977

Two Plays

The stories behind it:

Ian McCausland (1944–2022) was an artist whose work captured the restless, creative spirit of the 1960s and 70s. Immersed in Melbourne’s radical theatre and music scenes, he designed striking posters and visuals that fused art, politics, and performance. As Mushroom Records’ Art Director, his bold style became emblematic of an era when art and rebellion shared the same stage.

This vintage print project is part of our creative strategy to raise vital funds for future writers, artists, and directors.
