Bravery, Hope, and Stories

Straight from the heart: Glenn Shea gently turns our focus to the process and bravery of the team in bringing Some Secrets Should Be Kept Secret to the world.

Some Secrets Should Be Kept Secret is a story about hope in a world where stories about Impact rarely get spoken about and if they do are so deep in trauma that the person listening doesn’t quite understand the level of layers a human being has to live with. It is at times put into the hard basket and a band aid treatment of the issue is implied. This story takes a pound of flesh from each actor who investigates their characters journey to ultimately get to where they need to be and what they need to do … Through this rehearsal we have learnt that communication is the key and to be able to talk about the sins of the perpetrators in a society lays bare for all to see.

How brave actors are to engage in a story which may impact them from the process they participate in. How brave they are to challenge themselves to share and reveal a story that has impacted so many lives whether Indigenous or not, how brave are the creatives to build a world which shows how normal a place may be for these circumstances to happen, how brave are we to share this story night after night but how brave is the victim to share their story in the first place.
