Melbourne Festival of Puppetry 2026: Bunk Puppets

Sticks Stones Broken Bones

Using bits of rubbish and everyday objects, Bunk Puppets transform the ordinary into inventive shadow worlds.

After touring internationally and delighting audiences across dozens of countries, Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones returns to Melbourne with its signature blend of ingenuity and play.

Toys, brooms, boxes and scraps become dancing figures, dramatic showdowns, and unexpected stories, all created live and in full view; every reveal on the screen is a giddy surprise. At the centre is a wide-eyed puppeteer, caught up in the chaos of it all.

Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones blends shadow puppetry, clown, and physical theatre into a hilarious, imaginative spectacle. Perfect for audiences aged 4 to 104.
