The Head | Thorax | Abdomen performer on abandon, frankness, and never ever finishing.
1. What is your lens and how do you apply it?
That's an interesting question. Certainly a provocation; I'm not conscious of it in motion. Definitions are appealing and repellent in equal measure. I imagine my lens is relative to my taste and my taste is informed by the meeting of myself and circumstances over time. I like laughter when it is not cruel; when it is abandon. I use a lot of laughter that has been abandoned in the application of my lens... Primarily one must be in earnest when applying anything otherwise it won’t stick.
2. Who and/or what inspires you?
Frankness. There is nothing poetic in artifice; the encountering of truthfulness evident in the work, whatever the medium, is profoundly moving as there are an eternity of examples of well-wrought fantasies that mean to comfort and diminish rather than inspire and I am so bored with them. These deluding and delusional elements are present in the operations of discourse and they evoke a kind of inspiration in the form of outrage too… or just rage… To apprehend such qualities either robs one of spirit by virtue of a mugging disappointment, the recognition of a sort of betrayal, but it can be used as energy to muster the will to contest the dismal attitude.
3. How do you know when something is “finished”?
Nothing’s finished. There’s no time to think that way either. Everything is in motion and even when you die you’re not finished, you’re just dead; what is this? Is this God? I can’t believe this…
