THREE QUESTIONS: MIA TUCO

GAG REFLEX performer Mia Tuco on finding pearls.

1. How do you approach your art?

I like to explore my work through the body using dance and clown; I approach all text with innocence, naivety and an unbiased perspective. Forming a healthy space to allow me to play in heightened emotion and physicality to begin and distilling all the possibilities down to find a pearl.

2. Who and/or what inspires you?

To name a few- Maya Erskine & Anna Konkle, Eva Victor and Ballet National De Marseille.

3. What are you experimenting with in Gag Reflex?

I’m really keen to play with jumping between different worlds, the heightened written world and the girls everyday… I think we're gonna gag em ;)

Mia is a Naarm/ Melbourne based actor, her practice lies in a yearning for connection and the physical embodiment of emotion. Using her clown to access the extremities of the human experience and maintaining a sense of play and discovery throughout her pursuit, never fearing the ugly or uncomfortable in that safety.
