Two of the La Mama community have been named in this year's Griffin Award shortlist announcement
A huge La Mama CONGRATULATIONS! to Amarantha who has been shortlisted for this year’s GRIFFIN AWARD for her play THEY CAME FOR CANE.
The Griffin Award recognises an outstanding idea for a play or performance text that displays an authentic, inventive and contemporary Australian voice.
Amarantha has been part of the La Mama community for several years: she was part of our inaugural Writers’ Program in 2023, and in 2024 we presented her play OSHUN, which had begun life as a La Mama EXPLORATION. Amarantha is also a facilitator for this year’s IMMERSE.
We’re thrilled also that Zack Lewin was highly commended in the GRIFFIN AWARD for his play FUCK•A•PAPA which was developed in our 2025 La Mama Residencies and is showing in EXPLORATIONS from 24 July. Zack is also one of this year’s EMERGE cohort.
