Recent La Mama Successes

Back to
GeneralAnnouncement

We’re always so thrilled following the trajectories of shows that got their start at La Mama, and are now performing around the world. Here’s a few of the latest:

TROPHY BOYS

Emmanuelle Mattana's Trophy Boys began its life as a La Mama Explorations piece, and since then the multi award winning production has toured nationally to great acclaim. This year it will make its US premiere off Broadway at MCC Theater.

Tony winner Daynor Taymor (John Proctor is the Villain, The Outsiders) will direct, and the show will star Louisa Jacobson (The Gilded Age), Terry Hu (Never Have I Ever), and Esco Jouléy (Wolf Play) alongside Emmanuelle. Congrats to all involved! Make sure you share the news with friends in NYC - general ticket sales are open.

FLICK

Madeleine Nunn's FLICK also started life as a La Mama Explorations piece just last year. It played at the Adelaide Fringe Festival this year where it received the House of Oz Purse Prize to enable Madeleine to tour it to Edinburgh Festival later this year. The prize provides incredible financial support for travel, accommodation, marketing, registration, tech and more. Well done and all the best to Maddie for the season!

SLIGHTLY CRACKED

Jennifer Monk's Slightly Cracked premiered at La Mama in 2023. Since then Jennifer has turned it into a three part web series on women's mental health with F Word Films in association with her company Girls Act Good.

They've just been to LAWEBFEST with the series - where they were nominated for three awards, the Michael Ajakwe Jr. Achievement Award, Best Director, and Best Series of All Genres. Huge congratulations to Jennifer and the team, who took out the Michael Ajakwe Jr. Achievement Award!
